Recorded highlights will be shown on Channel 4 in the UK on 16 November and on VH1 in the US on 25 November
SYD Barrett, the founder of Pink Floyd has died aged 60.

The wayward genius passed away from cancer last Friday in the scruffy semi-detached Cambridge home to which he retreated as a recluse more than 30 years ago.

A spokeswoman for Pink Floyd music publishers said: "I can confirm that Syd Barrett has died.

[May 22] The surviving members of Led Zeppelin received the prestigious Polar Music Prize from Sweden’s king today in the city where they recorded their final studio album 27 years ago. Robert Plant, Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones crossed the stage of the Stockholm Concert Hall – also the venue for the annual Nobel Prizes – to accept the award they shared with Russian conductor Valery Gergiev. John Bonham, the group’s drummer, who died in 1980, was represented by his daughter, Zoe.



In a short acceptance speech, Plant recalled that Led Zeppelin recorded their last studio album, In Through the Out Door, in a Stockholm studio in 1979. “It’s a long time ago. Music has been a fantastic passport to us all,” he said.

The award, which is typically split between pop artists and classical musicians, was founded in 1989 by Stig Anderson, manager of Swedish pop group ABBA, through a donation to The Royal Swedish Academy of Music. Each prize winner collects 1 million kronor (around $100,000)
Former Guns N' Roses guitarist Slash has confirmed that the long awaited new Guns N' Roses album will be released this spring.

Speaking on Virgin Radio, the guitarist revealed that after months of speculation Chinese Democracy will finally hit the shops in March.

"I'm really excited. Its been a long time waiting to see what the next step around the corner was going to be. Its coming out in March and apparently it sounds great," the Sun quoted Sash as saying.

Axl Rose is the only remaining original member of the band and has been working on Chinese Democracy for the past 10 years. Gn'R former bandmates include guitarist Slash, drummer Matt Sorum and bassist Duff McKagan have formed a new band Velvet Revolver.

Paul McCartney stormed out of the Grammys after missing out on best album, it has been claimed.

The 63-year-old's Chaos And Creation In The Back Yard lost out to U2’s How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb.

Insider Roger Friedman told The Sun how the bad loser refused to congratulate the Irish winners, then walked out. “The ex-Beatle got up and left with his very arrogant bodyguard," he said. "They weren’t exactly subtle about it, either.”

McCartney apparently went backstage and ignored fellow stars. “He walked right past Sting without saying hello," added Friedman.

John Lennon's Imagine has been voted the nation's number one song - 25 years after his death.
The Beatles classics Hey Jude and Let it Be came second and third in the poll compiled by Virgin Radio.
U2 made it to fourth place with One, while Robbie Williams followed with Angels.
The highest charting debut act in the poll was newcomer James Blunt, securing his place in the top 10 with You're Beautiful.
Virgin Radio's Ben Jones, who will play out the top 10, said: "Its apt that Lennon is top of the poll in the year of the 25th anniversary of his death.
"His writing, especially with Paul McCartney, is possibly the country's greatest ever musical export and he clearly still holds a special place in the nation's heart."
The Beatles have 33 entries in the top 500 songs.
The Rolling Stones follow with 17 entries, followed by U2 with 15 and David Bowie and Queen with 14 each.

[Dec. 14] Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page has been awarded an OBE by the Queen - for his charitable work. The 61-year-old began a campaign to help disadvantaged youngsters from the favelas of Rio de Janeiro more than 10 years ago. Page said he was overwhelmed to be given the accolade for helping street children in Brazil. Page added: "The Queen actually said it was very important work and that it was a horrible problem for the street children

Rockers Led Zeppelin have been honoured with a top award for their services to music.

The band scooped the Polar Music Prize from the Royal Academy of Music in Swededn and will collect a £70,000 prize.

Jimmy Page and co. will collect the award from King Carl XVI Gustaf when the formal ceremony is held in Sweden in May next year.

The Academy named the band as winners because they were “one of the great pioneers of rock,” reports the BBC.

Previous winners of the award include Sir Paul McCartney and Quincy Jones.
